Unlike the photograph, a hologram when cut into pieces will, amazingly, in even a tiny fragment contain an image of the whole. Organizations are like holograms. They are most often sampled in small pieces. Lost luggage becomes the airline. A bad policy undermines the best organizational intent. The whole is ‘seen’ in the parts. Leaders both share and assume responsibility (listen to the video and answer the following questions):
a) Where do people ‘sample’ my organization? What image do they see?
b) How can employees assume responsibility in their work in a way they feel free to project value, quality and service?
c) What must leaders do and stop doing to allow employees to more positively reflect the organization’s intended image?
